I want to go home, Even thought, pacing around his Station. It didn't seem to matter much whether he stood on its actual surface or not, but it was the one indisputably familiar place he had, so he stayed with it. What good is my being in Sora's heart going to do me, or Sora or anyone else for that matter? Back in Radiant Garden, he had had his work - not, perhaps, as intellectually rewarding as it could have been, but it had been work, something to feel satisfaction in accomplishing, something to occupy his mind besides this endless nothing.
Radiant Garden...it had been drowning in darkness for the second time when last he had seen it, but he still dared to hope. After all, had it not survived once before? It might still be out there, changed perhaps but still salvageable, still fixable -
He forgot for a moment in a blur of frustration that there was nowhere to go, and went.
His boots clacked on cobblestone. Before him stretched a small plaza, shops and stands all open - and all empty, quietly so, as though everyone had just decided to step out for a minute. Beyond, he could see scaffolding stretched over the mottled stone façade of a castle. That, too, was empty.
Even stopped dead in his tracks, looking up at the castle. His face went through a series of convulsive grimaces, none of them happy or pleasant to look at. He began to curse, inventively and at length. So much for there being anywhere to return to.
